Who is TREK?
TREK is one of the world’s most iconic bicycle manufacturers, known for its forward-thinking designs and commitment to sustainable mobility. In Belgium, the demand for bike leasing was growing fast. But in practice, the leasing process – for both customers and retailers – was anything but smooth.
Behind the scenes, outdated workflows and manual follow-ups led to friction. TREK knew it could be better. Together with KBC Lease and Renta Solutions, Pàu was brought on board to reimagine the bike leasing experience. The result? A fully integrated, digital leasing flow that simplifies life for both retailers and riders.
Challenge
How do we make bike leasing more intuitive – for everyone involved?
Across TREK’s Belgian retail network, bike leasing showed a lot of promise – but also frustration. Requests were handled via email, validations required phone calls, and tracking the status of applications was a challenge. Valuable time was lost, and errors crept in.
Without a central overview, critical information was easily lost in the day-to-day chaos of retail. Customers had to wait longer for answers, sales staff lost track of applications, and the high-quality service TREK aims to deliver was at risk.
TREK’s sales teams thrive when helping customers find the perfect bike. But instead, they were tied up in admin. To flip the script, TREK needed a digital leap forward.
Approach
A leasing flow fully embedded in the retail experience
TREK’s sales teams were already using the POS-system, their in-house retail platform. Rather than adding yet another system, we chose to embed the new leasing experience directly into Ascend. The result: no extra tools to learn, and a seamless fit with daily workflows.
This was a true team effort. From day one, stakeholders from TREK, KBC Lease, Renta Solutions and Pàu collaborated closely. Weekly sprints and fast feedback loops ensured the product could evolve quickly – from idea to impact.
We didn’t just focus on APIs and backend systems – we also zoomed in on the user experience. The interface was designed to feel natural, fast and frictionless. From application to delivery, everything is tracked in real time. Customers receive updates via email or text, and sales reps stay in control at every step.
Solution
A plug-and-play leasing experience that runs like a well-oiled chain
Sales reps now initiate leasing applications directly within the POS-system. Leasing codes are validated automatically through the KBC Lease API. Real-time status updates, document generation and smart links with work orders and invoicing round out the flow.
By removing manual steps, TREK’s teams can do what they do best: guide customers toward their ideal bike. The process is faster, less error-prone, and more satisfying – for everyone.
Each application is trackable by all parties involved. Sales staff know exactly where things stand, customers stay informed, and TREK maintains oversight across its entire network.
